Position Overview

Aecon, a leader in steel fabrication, seeks experienced Fitter/Welders for weekend shifts. The role involves fitting and welding structural and custom steel components per blueprints and specifications.

Key Responsibilities
  • Layout, fit, and weld steel components according to blueprints and shop drawings
  • Operate GMAW, MCAW, and FCAW welding techniques on mild steel
  • Use overhead cranes, cutting torches, grinders, and fabrication tools
  • Inspect work to meet quality standards
  • Maintain a safe, clean work environment
  • Collaborate with team members to meet project deadlines
Qualifications
  • 3+ years in steel fabrication
  • Proficiency in reading blueprints and weld symbols
  • Skilled in GMAW, MCAW, FCAW welding
  • Ability to work independently
  • Knowledge of shop math and tolerances
  • Ability to lift 50 lbs and stand for extended periods
  • AWS, CWB certification or equivalent (asset)
Preferred Skills
  • Forklift and overhead crane experience
  • Experience in fabrication shop environment
