Qualifications

The Opportunity

Aecon, a leader in custom steel fabrication, is seeking an experienced and motivated Fitter/Welders to join our team on the day shift. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in fitting and welding structural and custom steel components according to blueprints and specifications.

What you'll do here:

  • Layout, fit, and weld fabricated steel components per blueprints and shop drawings
  • Use GMAW, MCAW and FCAW welding techniques on mild steel.
  • Operate overhead cranes, cutting torches, grinders, and other fabrication tools
  • Inspect work to ensure it meets company and customer quality standards
  • Maintain a clean and safe work environment
  • Collaborate with team members and supervisors to meet project deadlines

What you bring to the team:

  • 3+ years of experience in custom steel fabrication
  • Strong proficiency in reading blueprints and weld symbols
  • Skilled in GMAW, MCAW and FCAW welding
  • Ability to work independently with minimal supervision
  • Knowledge of shop math and fabrication tolerances
  • Must be able to lift 50 lbs and stand for extended periods
  • AWS, CWB certification or equivalent is an asset

Preferred:

  • Forklift and Overhead crane operation experience
  • Experience in a fabrication shop environment.
