What will you be doing!

  • Recommending and implementing modifications to established governing manuals and procedures, devising new and streamlined solutions, assessing compliance with technical requirements, determining applicable acceptance criteria, and approving programmatic changes.
    • Performing the role of author or reviewer for various functional level procedures Fitness for Service Manager, ensuring requirements are adequately captured.
    • Working to ensure that program documentation remains aligned with requirements and governance of other function support areas.
    • Acting by continuously improving, and/or revising the program. Auditing findings, trends, and observations and developing improvements and identifying process efficiencies.
  • Acting as a point of contact for the program and regularly interfacing with various organizations including design, procurement, maintenance, operations, quality assurance, safety engineering, Decommissioning and Waste Management, Research and Development, and projects.
    • Interfacing with various line organizations to understand any challenges and to acting upon suggested improvements to existing processes.
    • Providing input into maintenance and work management projects being performed on site.
    • Tracking and facilitating the implementation of ageing management at Canadian Nuclear Laboratories (CNLs) class 1B nuclear facilities. Providing technical advice and reviewing on the development of required documents when requested.
  • Other duties as assigned by your manager.

What we are looking for:

  • Education
    • Bachelors (Honours) in Engineering or Science from a university of recognized standing; or membership in an engineering or scientific professional organization authorized by statute to establish qualification for membership in that organization.
  • Experience
    • Working knowledge of CNL’s organizational structure, work processes and technology, Management System, CSA-N286 series of standards, and REGDOC 2.6.3
    • Knowledge and experience with maintenance, work management and reliability. Experience working with a computerized maintenance management system.
    • Experience in delivery of training and presentations would be an asset.
  • Knowledge, Skills & Abilities
    • Ability to function independently in the technical area(s).
    • Ability to understand regulator requirement and technical standards and interpret for others.
    • Proven initiative and motivation.
    • Good people skills to work with peers as well as both internal and external customers in a team environment.
    • Proficiency in both written and oral communications is required.
    • Must be proficient in MS Office software used by CNL.
    • Strong organizational and time management capabilities.
    • A good team player with strong commitment to maintain quality principles and objectives.
  • Security Clearance Eligibility Required
    • Reliability Status with Site Access Security Clearance (SASC), which has a minimum requirement of 3-5 years of verifiable history in Canada, Australia, New Zealand, the United States and/or the United Kingdom. CNL implements security screening in accordance with the Treasury Board of Canada Secretariat's “Standard on Security Screening” and the “Policy on Government Security.”
