Job Summary

Reporting to the Director Technical Design & Fitting, the Fit Technician will play an integral role in developing quality garments that reflect the Groupe Dynamite brands by ensuring garments meet the aesthetic, fit and construction requirements while maintaining constant streamlined communication with the factory and cross-functional teams.

Key Responsibilities
FIT (50%)
  • Lead the fit sessions and suggest improvements to the fit;
  • Work with the Design team for seasonal product development;
  • Continuously develop, maintain and elevate fit standards;
  • Work closely with the Design team from the handoff to all fitting stages to establish the desired look and fit of the garment on the fit model;
  • Keep fit in mind throughout the fitting process, from the first proto through all stages of pre-production samples, to the final size sets and top of production samples;
  • Develop and maintain a library of pattern blocks to streamline the approval process.
TECHNICAL DESIGN (20%)
  • Develop initial spec packages, detailed sketches, measurements and grading for all styles;
  • Issue the tech pack which includes all the technical specifications of the garment necessary for production: sketch, measurements, size grading, finishing details, yarn and fabric quality details, initial care instructions, pack method and labelling details;
  • Maintain a cohesive history of the style as well as a high standard of quality for production.
SAMPLE MANAGEMENT / FACTORY RELATIONS (30%)
  • Measure all fit samples, review samples prior to fittings to ensure the samples match the tech pack and were constructed as instructed;
  • Work directly with factories on style development;
  • Communicate the fit and construction requirements and corrections clearly to factories, anticipating potential production issues, and work out any problems that arise;
  • Write detailed comments which are enhanced with digital photographs, sketches, paper patterns, etc., critiquing the fit and workmanship of garments, and make any necessary changes to the tech pack;
  • Present solutions to the Design team to resolve problems with yarn, fabric quality or poorly made samples;
  • Ensure factories properly execute fit comments to make necessary changes for the next stage of the process;
  • Problem-solve fit and fabric issues as they arise;
  • Coordinate approval of garments and specs;
  • Maintain production deadlines and the organization/logistics of samples;
  • Review each sample for quality and Groupe Dynamite standards.
Qualifications
  • 5+ years experience in the apparel industry;
  • Educational background in Fashion Design;
  • Experience with fitting procedures, fitting corrections, and PAD pattern-making software knowledge required; LECTRA or others, an asset;
  • Garment construction knowledge;
  • Proficient in Illustrator, MS Office Suite, Bamboo Rose (software);
  • Meticulous, detail-oriented;
  • Able to work under pressure in a fast-paced environment;
  • Strong time management and highly organized.
