Job summary

Paq’tnkek Mi’kmaw Nation is seeking a Fisheries Fleet Coordinator (1-Year Term) to oversee the fleet, ensure vessels are fit for use, and manage maintenance scheduling and budgeting. You will work under the Fisheries Operation Manager to optimize vessel availability and safety.

Responsibilities include scheduling trips, enforcing safety policies, and coordinating repairs while maintaining accurate records and reporting on fleet performance to management.

Qualifications

• Education in Ship Engineering, Marine Studies, Logistics or related discipline.
• High School Diploma or equivalent is required.
• 5+ years’ experience in fisheries operations with increasing responsibility.
• Ship Pilot License and Master Certificate of Competency required.
• Valid Advanced Marine First Aid, WHMIS and CPR certifications are expected.

Responsibilities

• Plan and evaluate the fleet, vessel management and logistics.
• Set safety procedures and ensure compliance with regulations.
• Oversee vessel maintenance, dispatch and service.
• Manage the fleet budget and procurement of new vessels.
• Maintain detailed records of maintenance and fishing activities.
