Job summary

Trinity Consultants Canada Water & Ecology is seeking a Fisheries Biologist to lead and support fisheries and aquatic assessment projects across Canada. The role offers mentorship, collaboration with senior staff, and opportunities to develop leadership skills.

Qualifications

• Advanced degree in a relevant field.
• 4-6 years of relevant experience, including fish collection using various methods, fish community characterization, and assessment of fish population and health data.
• Analytical and technical editing and review skills, with ability to deliver high-quality reports and proposals.
• Ability to communicate complex scientific information clearly to diverse audiences including team members, clients, regulators, and stakeholders.
• Excellent time management, organizational, and multi-tasking skills.
• Strong attention to detail with a commitment to quality, ethics, and excellence.
• Hands-on expertise in planning and conducting aquatic field programs using diverse sampling techniques; familiarity with QA/QC protocols and data integrity standards.
• Competent with Microsoft programs.
• Strong knowledge of statistical analysis.
• R.P.Bio. (or equivalent) or eligibility for registration is an asset.
• Experience in the mining sector is an asset.

Responsibilities

• Leading and supporting the planning and implementation of fisheries and aquatic assessment projects across Canada.
• Conducting assessments focused on fish habitat, fish communities and health, integrating geomorphology, limnology, hydrology, water/sediment quality, and benthic invertebrate communities.
• Contributing fish and fish habitat expertise to large multi-disciplinary projects in collaboration with senior staff.
• Mentoring junior team members and supporting knowledge sharing within the aquatic sciences team.
• Representing Trinity Consultants Canada - Water & Ecology in the scientific community through high-quality deliverables, industry engagement, and participation in technical conferences.

THE QUALIFICATIONS AND SKILLS WE ARE LOOKING FOR
