About the Role:

The First Nations, Métis, and Inuit Events Coordinator is responsible for facilitating and coordinating events related to strategic Indigenous initiatives for Hadiya’dagénhahs, including orientations, career fairs, workshops, cultural programs, student luncheons, high school visits, special events, Indigenous outreach activities, and initiatives for Indigenous students and communities.

The First Nations, Métis, & Inuit Events Coordinator will:
  1. Organize event details including room booking, catering, guest speakers, agendas, audio-visual and equipment arrangements, and all other logistics;
  2. Assist in providing support and advice for Indigenous students, connecting students to various services across the University for additional resources and services;
  3. Assist with program development, perform administrative tasks, and assist with report preparation;
  4. Coordinate the end-to-end Indigenous recruitment process including scheduling visits, information sessions, and promoting Brock University to Indigenous prospective students;
  5. Deliver presentations on University programs and services to Indigenous students and communities, and respond to inquiries or refer them appropriately;
  6. Maintain a comprehensive database of Indigenous community contacts and organizations;
  7. Track and report Indigenous recruitment activities and contribute to student recruitment strategies;
  8. Promote First Nations, Métis, and Inuit self-identification strategies, explaining their purpose and benefits.
Key Skills and Experience:
  1. An undergraduate degree in a relevant discipline or equivalent experience;
  2. Identify as a member of a First Nations, Métis, or Inuit community;
  3. Valid Ontario G class driver’s license and acceptable driver’s abstract;
  4. Experience working in an Indigenous support role with knowledge of First Nations, Métis, and Inuit cultures, history, and protocols;
  5. Understanding of Indigenous politics related to education and community visits;
  6. Knowledge of Indigenous communities, funding sources, and band funders;
  7. Ability to multi-task and meet deadlines;
  8. Strong presentation skills and ability to articulate University programs confidently.
Preferred or Asset Skills:
  1. Personal experience as a First Nations, Métis, or Inuit student in post-secondary education;
  2. Experience working in Indigenous communities;
  3. Experience in a higher education environment, preferably at Brock University.
Salary and Total Rewards:
  1. Job Grade J, Salary Scale ($56,503 - $91,627);
  2. Target Hiring Range: $56,503-$60,000;
  3. Includes health & dental benefits, pension plan, vacation, and professional development opportunities.

The final salary depends on experience, internal equity, and budget considerations.
