Job summary

Compass Group Canada is seeking a First Cook to prepare and cook food to established standards in a high-volume setting. The role involves mise en place, quality control, and adherence to safety policies.

The position offers shift patterns of 11 hours per day with a 20/10 rotation, and compensation is aligned with experience and internal equity. AI tools may be used in screening processes.

Qualifications

  • Proven cooking experience in hotels, banquets, or large camps.

Responsibilities

Job description

Prepares food in accordance with applicable corporate standards, guidelines and regulations with established policies and procedures. Ensures quality food service is provided at all times.

Essential Duties And Responsibilities
  • Prepare, pre-cook and/or cook food products as directed
  • Prepare “mise en place” (setting in place of foods, garnishes, sauces, dishes, cutlery, etc) and other products as required for high volume production
  • Clean kitchen equipment after use according to health and safety policies and procedures
  • Label, date, store and rotate food and beverage products in appropriate storage areas
  • Communicate effectively with all appropriate operational departments
  • Reports needed maintenance, faulty equipment or accidents to the supervisor immediately
  • Perform other duties as assigned or directed
Qualifications

  • Proven cooking experience cooking from scratch in a hotel, banquet or large camp
  • Food Safety Certification required

  • Familiar with industry’s best practices

Position Requirements
  • Pass a Drug & Alcohol Test
  • Pass a Criminal Record Check
  • Red Seal Certification is preferred
  • Food Safe Certification
  • Advanced Food Safe Certification preferred
  • Shift: 11hr/Day
  • Rotation: 20 Days on/ 10 Days off

The hourly wage for this position is $21.75. Final compensation will be determined based on relevant skills, experience, qualifications, and internal equity. We are committed to offering competitive compensation and comply with all applicable pay transparency legislation.
