Job summary

City of Laval is seeking a Firefighter within the Laval Fire Safety Service to protect lives, property and the environment. You will participate in emergency interventions, prevention and public safety activities, and civil safety operations with a professional, field-tested team.

This permanent role offers a competitive salary, continuous training, modern equipment, and opportunities for advancement within SSIL.

Qualifications

• Hold a DEP in fire safety intervention and a DEC in fire safety techniques.
• Must possess a valid Class 4A driver’s license and a Pleasure craft operator’s license.
• INU1 certification is an asset.

The ideal profile for us

• Hold a diploma of vocational studies (DEP) in fire safety intervention;
• Hold a college diploma (DEC) in fire safety techniques;
• Possess a valid class 4A driver's license;
• Possess a valid pleasure craft operator's license;
• Hold an INU1 certification (Level 1 Emergency Nautical Responder), an asset.

Selection process

• September 29 at 9 AM (duration of approximately 2 hours and 30 minutes): Virtual pre-selection inventory (psychometric test + test aimed at assessing basic technical knowledge of the firefighter profession)
• Week of October 19: Physical aptitude test in an aquatic environment
• November 10, 11, and 12: Physical aptitude tests and practical and technical skills assessments
• End of November – December: Selection interview
• Pre-employment verification including:
  • Verification of driver's license (class 4A and 5);
  • Verification of pleasure craft operator's license;
  • Verification of diplomas;
  • Medical examination (costs covered by the City);
  • Security clearance investigation.
