What’s The Role

The Fired Equipment Technologist provides technical discipline support and leadership related to the safety, integrity, reliability, and operational performance of fired heat transfer equipment. The focus is primarily on a 90-day outlook supporting medium to long-term unit issues and opportunities, while also addressing short-term emergent issues and long-term threats and opportunities in fired equipment for the asset.

Responsibilities
  • Provide technical support on design, selection, maintenance, and operational issues of fired heat transfer equipment.
  • Troubleshoot and analyze causal factors in operating plants, including heaters, boilers, hydrogen reformers, and flares.
  • Develop and support new heat transfer technologies and facilitate their deployment.
  • Ensure compliance with corporate standards and work processes.
  • Support quality and reliability initiatives, ensuring safe production variables, and contribute to the Heat Transfer Technical Discipline Network.
  • Maintain relationships with internal teams and stakeholders, and promote leadership, accountability, and teamwork.
Qualifications
  • Legal authorization to work in Canada full-time.
  • 5+ years experience with fired equipment.
  • Registered CET with ASET preferred.
  • Knowledge of API standards related to fired heaters, heat recovery steam generators, burners, and hazards.
  • Understanding of materials, corrosion, welding, heat treatment, and testing of fired heat transfer equipment.
  • Experience with refractory technologies and coking principles.
  • Strong communication skills and ability to convey complex concepts clearly.
  • Results-oriented, customer-focused, fluent in English.
