Shared Health leads the planning and coordinates the integration of patient-centered clinical and preventive health services across Manitoba. The organization also delivers some province-wide health services and supports centralized administrative and business functions for Manitoba health organizations.

Experience
  • Three years’ experience as a fire safety officer within an institutional setting is required.
  • Five years’ experience as a fire inspector with experience in inspection of institutions and healthcare occupancies preferred.
  • Ability to interpret and use the Manitoba Fire Code, Manitoba Building Code, City of Winnipeg By-Laws and NFPA Standards.
Education (Degree/Diploma/Certificate)
  • Complete high school education, Manitoba standards, required.
  • Certification through the Manitoba Fire College (or equivalent) in Fire Inspection is required.
  • Certification through Manitoba Emergency Services College (or equivalent) as a Fire and Life Safety Educator would be considered an asset.
  • Certification and/or training in mechanical, electrical or safety engineering technology is required.
Certification/Licence/Registration
  • Fire and Life Safety Educator 1 NFPA 1035 Certificate (Preferred).
Qualifications and Skills
  • Knowledge of building inspection techniques/methods is required.
  • Knowledge of training methods and course development would be considered an asset.
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills required.
  • Knowledge of Windows based word processing, spreadsheet and data processing software required.
  • Training in computer aided drafting (CAD Level 1) or equivalent is required.
  • Preference will be given to those applicants competent in an Indigenous language and/or knowledge in Indigenous customs, traditions and values.
  • Knowledge/training in technical trades including building systems especially fire safety systems is preferred.
  • Demonstrated critical thinking and problem-solving skills.
  • Ability to respond to a variety of simultaneous demands.
  • Ability to adapt to changing situations.
  • Ability to maintain concentration with frequent interruptions.
  • Ability to perform independently and as a member of the Facility Management team.
  • Ability to manage conflict and exercise good judgement.
Physical Requirements
  • Position involves entering confined areas such as mechanical rooms and crawl spaces and working in elevated places on various pieces of equipment (i.e., ladders, catwalks, scaffold).
