Stantec is seeking an intermediate Fire Protection Designer for its Atlantic offices. The successful candidate will be responsible for delivering fire protection projects, including design of suppression and fire alarm systems, while working closely with clients and team members. Stantec is looking for an intermediate Fire Protection Designer in one of our Atlantic offices. This role will be focused on the delivery of various fire protection projects, including design of sprinkler, special suppression, and fire alarm systems; Fire Code analyses, Fire Hazard Assessments, and system testing/commissioning. The successful candidate will work in a team environment, working closely with both junior and senior staff to deliver projects, and will have the opportunity to deal directly with clients for proposals and delivery of projects.
In this role you will be responsible for the design and execution of projects ranging in size and complexity, with exposure to transit, mission critical facilities (data centers), industrial, healthcare, civic, commercial and educational projects.
The position will involve the application fire and life safety principles to fire protection systems design projects as well as the assessment of existing fire protection systems. The position requires the ability to assess conditions of existing systems, analyze performance and Code conformance, prepare written reports with cost estimates, complete design calculations for fire protection systems, complete drawings and specifications, undertake site review and verification of systems, and advise clients on recommended fire protection system features. In addition to fire protection design, the position may also involve the application of provincial and national building and fire codes, standards, and best practice guidelines related to the storage, use and handling of hazardous materials.
