Job description

Diamond Fire Prevention Inc. is expanding and has an exciting opportunity for an experienced technician to join our team as a Fire Prevention Technician for Vehicle Fire Suppression Systems (VFSS) in Timmins, Ontario.

This is a physically demanding job and safety sensitive role that includes diverse maintenance and repair activities:

  • Inspecting, repairing, and providing maintenance of vehicle fire suppression systems at various customer sites
  • Conducting mobile fire suppression system inspections and audits, with value-add suggestions for follow-up and maintenance
  • Occasional overnight / extended travel to customer sites

Qualifications:

  • Experience working in a mechanical shop or equivalent hands-on role with vehicles or other motorized equipment
  • Basic electrical knowledge and mechanical aptitude with experience working with power and hand tools
  • Previous experience working with fire suppression systems
  • Comfortable working in underground mining operations
  • A valid drivers’ license and clean drivers abstract
  • Prior customer service experience and great communication skills
  • Able to work with technology and mobile devices
  • Bilingual English/French, an asset

Physical Safety Requirements:
This is a physically demanding and safety-sensitive role involving various types of equipment and work environments. As such the following are core requirements for this role:

  • Ability to lift and carry up to 50 lbs unassisted, coupled with good hand/eye coordination and manual dexterity
  • Physically able to work in restricted workspaces, including using ladders and walkways on large equipment
  • Able to pass pre-employment and periodic drug and alcohol testing as well as criminal background checks
