Job description

A global construction firm is hiring a Fire & Life Safety Manager to support major infrastructure projects. This organization has been a trusted name in complex projects for decades and offers a unique opportunity to shape the safety landscape of high-profile developments across Canada.

The Role :

As the Fire & Life Safety Manager, you will play a central role in defining and guiding fire safety strategies across major projects. Working within a multidisciplinary team, you’ll ensure design compliance with applicable codes, mitigate fire and life safety risks, and drive collaboration between internal teams, clients, and authorities having jurisdiction (AHJs).

This role is ideal for a technically minded safety leader with strong experience in infrastructure and a passion for improving safety outcomes in complex design environments.

Key Responsibilities :

  • Develop and oversee comprehensive fire and life safety strategies for infrastructure projects.
  • Conduct safety reviews to identify fire and life safety hazards in infrastructure design and coordinate resolutions with project stakeholders.
  • Act as the primary liaison with clients and regulatory authorities to ensure compliance with applicable standards.
  • Lead internal safety coordination to maintain alignment with the FLS strategy throughout all phases of design and delivery.
  • Provide technical guidance on emergency management considerations in construction environments.

Qualifications :

  • Bachelor’s degree in Engineering; a postgraduate degree in Fire Safety, Emergency Management, or related fields is preferred.
  • Professional certifications such as CFPS (Certified Fire Protection Specialist) or CSP (Certified Safety Professional) are highly desirable.
  • Strong understanding of North American safety and fire protection codes (e.g., NFPA, OSHA) and their application in infrastructure design.
  • Demonstrated ability to lead in high-pressure environments, with excellent coordination, communication, and leadership skills.
