Job summary

City of Toronto is seeking a Data Analyst for Firefighter Info & Communications Systems to deliver data analysis and BI services. You will transform data into actionable insights supporting informed decisions, with a focus on reporting, dashboards, and data governance.

The role involves developing queries, building visualizations, and preparing Excel analyses and presentations. Strong analytical and communication skills are essential.

Qualifications

• Post-secondary degree or diploma in Mathematics, Data Science, Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Information Systems, Geomatics, GIS, Geography, or a related field.
• Considerable Experience (minimum 3 years) as a data or GIS analyst.
• Experience with reporting tools such as Power BI, SSRS, and SSIS in the last 5 years.
• Experience with database queries, data warehouse design, dashboards, dimensional modeling, ETL, and data integration.
• Experience with data analysis tools: SQL Server, Power BI, Python, R, GIS platforms like ESRI ArcGIS.
• Proficiency in MS Office (Word, Excel) and SharePoint.
• Strong communication, documentation, and problem-solving skills.
• Ability to work independently and manage multiple tasks.

Responsibilities

• Support strategic decision making with data, statistics, visualizations, and research.
• Develop and run database queries and assist with information requests.
• Create visualizations to reveal complex data relationships for actionable insights.
• Prepare Excel analyses and PowerPoint presentations.
• Document technical procedures and data governance practices.
• Assist with analysis of response times, deployment planning and risk modelling.
• Identify data quality issues and contribute to quality assurance.
