Job summary

NextStar Energy Inc. in Windsor, Ontario, is seeking a Fire/Disaster Prevention Supervisor to lead the Emergency Response Team and develop comprehensive emergency programs.

You will oversee drills, incident coordination, and compliance with safety standards in a fast-paced manufacturing setting. The role requires a minimum of five years in emergency response or fire protection, with strong leadership and program development skills.

Qualifications

  • Five+ years of progressive experience in emergency response, fire protection, industrial safety, or emergency management.
  • Experience leading drills, developing programs, and coordinating incidents.
  • Strong knowledge of fire protection systems, risk assessment, and applicable legislation.

Responsibilities

  • Lead the day-to-day operations, readiness, and continuous improvement of the site's Emergency Response Team (ERT).
  • Develop, implement, and maintain emergency response programs, policies, procedures, and operational standards.
  • Lead emergency planning, incident response, drills, exercises, and operational decision-making during emergency events.
  • Coordinate ERT training, competency development, certifications, and the First Responder Volunteer Program.
  • Develop and maintain emergency response documentation, including SOPs, work instructions, risk assessments, reports, and records.
  • Manage emergency response equipment, inventories, procurement, and resource planning to ensure operational readiness.
  • Provide operational oversight of third-party emergency response contractors, including staffing, scheduling, performance, and deployment planning.
  • Partner with internal departments and external emergency services, contractors, vendors, and community agencies to strengthen emergency preparedness and response.
  • Monitor program performance, training compliance, and operational metrics to identify improvement opportunities and provide recommendations to leadership.
  • Support the development of a high-performing, sustainable emergency response program that protects people, property, and business continuity.

We are currently seeking a motivated and detail-oriented Fire/Disaster Prevention Supervisor to join our Team.

  • Post-secondary education in Fire Protection, Emergency Management, Occupational Health & Safety, or a related discipline; equivalent experience may be considered.
  • Minimum five years of progressive experience in emergency response, fire protection, industrial safety, or emergency management, including leadership experience.
  • Experience developing emergency response programs, conducting training, leading drills, and coordinating emergency incidents.
  • Strong knowledge of emergency response principles, fire protection systems, risk assessment, and applicable legislation and standards.
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced industrial manufacturing environment and respond to emergency situations outside normal business hours, as required.
