Qualifications

Job Description

WHAT'S THE JOB?

Fire Camps are remote camps that require rapid mobilization of staff to get to site in a variety of different locations in Northwestern Ontario.

Y ou must be comfortable working in a remote bush camp setting. Bush camps are often hours away from any town, with limited to no cell reception and Wi-Fi. Must be comfortable sleeping in a tent and living in the outdoors as accommodations can range from a lodge to a tent depending on the site.

Key responsibilities include:

  • Maintaining a clean and organized workstation throughout shift, including lunchrooms, dining room, servery, ware wash area, main kitchen and storage areas
  • Regular sweeping and mopping of all floors, including walk-in coolers and storage areas
  • Stocking of all needed food, beverage and paper/disposable supplies as required
  • Disposing of all garbage, cardboard and recyclables as required
  • Correctly label, date and rotate all products put out for service
  • Assisting in food production as required
  • Receiving and storing of supplies (food, beverages, chemical and paper/disposables)
Qualifications

WHO ARE WE LOOKING FOR?

  • Large-scale kitchen assistingin camp settings, fire camps, banquet halls and/or hotels is a strongasset
  • Current Food Safe certification is an asset
  • Valid GDriver's License and clean driver's abstract is a strong asset
  • A team-player who is committed to providing client satisfaction
  • Ability to prioritize multiple task demands and organize a work schedule
  • Must have valid government issued photo ID for travel to site
  • Ability to handle the following physical demands:
    • Lift, carry, push or pull up to 50 lbs
    • Climb ladders or stairs
    • Stand, walk, squat, kneel or sit according to task for extended periods of time
    • Perform repetitive hand work requiring full use of both hands
    • Perform work with arms at full length
    • Work with arms above shoulder height

Work schedule and remuneration:

Fire camp workers must have the ability to commit to a minimum 2-3 week rotation. Site locations are in remote bush settings and may require tent accommodations dependent on the location of the fire activity in the region. You may be required to work nights, weekdays, weekends, and general holidays. Wages are paid on an hourly basis and include a starting rate of $18.73.
