Job summary

ALS is seeking a detail-oriented laboratory professional to independently conduct routine and non-routine analyses of geological samples, fusion, and cupellation. You will manage crucibles, prepare samples, and perform fusion and cupellation using furnace tools while following all safety and operating procedures.

Ideal candidates understand fire assay methods, possess strong analytical skills, and can work both independently and in teams.

Qualifications

  • Completion of High School Education required.
  • Diploma or Degree in Science preferred.
  • Laboratory experience in a production-oriented environment would be an asset.

Responsibilities

  • Crucible management and set up/prepare samples for fusion.
  • Perform fusion and cupellation processes using furnace tools.
  • Ensure all safe work procedures and standard working procedures are strictly adhered to.
  • Ensure cleaning and maintenance schedules are complete.

At ALS, we encourage you to dream big.When you join us, you’ll be part of a global team harnessing the power of scientific testing and data-driven insights to build a healthier future.About the Position:Independently conducts routine and non-routine analyses of geological samples, fusion, and cupellation.Specific Responsibilities:Crucible management and set up/prepare samples for fusion;Perform fusion and cupellation processes using furnace tools;Ensure all safe work procedures and standard working procedures are strictly adhered to;Ensure cleaning and maintenance schedules are complete;Use correct methods in accordance with the established procedures and schedules while ensuring analytical quality;Observe established safety regulations and comply with all ALS health and safety policies and procedures;Other duties as assigned.Required Knowledge, Skills & Abilities:Familiarity with all fire assay methods and their respective digestion volumes and finish methods;Strong analytical and mechanical skills;Organized and highly motivated individual;Detail-oriented individual;Ability to work independently or as part of a team;Ability to effectively handle a high volume of work and time-critical issues;Basic English communication skillsSafety oriented.Required Qualifications:Completion of High School Education required.Diploma or Degree in Science preferred.Laboratory experience in a production-oriented environment would be an asset.Physical Demands:Able to lift up to 50lbs;Able to work within a hot and dusty environment;Must be willing to comply with the following H&S requirements:Be clean-shaven for Personal Protective Equipment (respirator);Wear issued personal protective equipment (PPE) such as dust masks, gloves etc., when required;Shower before the end of each shift;Undergo a lead blood test required every six months;Able to stand for a full shift;Able to sit at a desk and do general office work, which includes periodic sedentary responsibilities;Possess manual dexterity to perform repetitive tasks;Please note that ALS operates 24/7 and will require day, afternoon, and graveyard shift work, including weekends.Our benefits include:An estimated hourly pay of $24.02 CAD at the time of posting.
