Job description

At Merit Kitchens, the Finisher plays a vital role in ensuring that all cabinet parts are finished to a consistently high quality within a fast-paced manufacturing environment. Responsibilities include identifying and discarding defective products, performing all work in a safe manner, and cleaning and maintaining painting and coating equipment, ventilation systems, compressed air tools, and personal protective equipment.

Key Responsibilities
  • Preparation: Sanding, cleaning, and preparing cabinet surfaces for finishing to ensure consistent and even application of coatings.
  • Application of finishes: Applying stains, lacquers, paints, glazes, and sealers using air‑assist spray guns.
  • Equipment operation: Setting up and operating finishing machines, such as spray guns and spray pumps, as well as using power tools like orbital sanders.
  • Quality control: Inspecting finished products to ensure they meet established quality standards.
  • Work area management: Maintaining a clean, organized, and safe work environment by following company policies and safety guidelines.
Required Skills And Qualifications
  • Technical skills: Proficiency in using hand and power tools, spray guns, and sanders for different finishing processes.
  • Attention to detail: Ability to ensure accurate and consistent application of finishes and to spot any defects or flaws.
