Finished Products Operator

Description:

The Finished Products Operator is responsible for safely forming pulp sheets, cutting, preparing, packaging, and loading the product onto railcars or trucks for shipment. Responsibilities include operating high-speed cutters, bale lines, presses, stackers, clamp trucks, locomotives, running lab tests, performing basic equipment maintenance, and potentially operating a pulp machine.

This team-based position requires working in a structured environment to meet production goals. Candidates should be improvement-focused, team-oriented, and enjoy routine work.

The Grande Prairie mill is an 1100+ tonne per day Northern Bleached Softwood Kraft pulp mill with approximately 400 employees operating 24/7.

Key Accountabilities:

  • Prioritize safety as a core value.

  • Work overtime as needed for shift coverage, meetings, and training.
  • Support site firefighting and emergency response skills.
  • Maintain and develop process skills and team capabilities.
  • Operate forklifts, locomotives, cutter, bale line, and perform lab sampling.
  • Perform rail yard duties and basic maintenance.
  • Stay informed on safety, process, and business updates.
  • Communicate effectively with team members and leaders.

Qualifications:

Required:

  • High school diploma, GED, or equivalent.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office.
  • Strong interpersonal, organizational, and safety awareness skills.
  • Ability to work independently and physically demanding tasks.
  • Teamwork capability and adaptability.

Preferred:

  • Firefighting certificate (1081), EMR certification, experience with heavy equipment, mechanical aptitude, and strong communication skills.
