Overview

Join our team at Lafarge Canada Construction as a night shift Finish Roller Operator and contribute to the creation of high-quality asphalt roadways. As a Finish Roller Operator, you'll play a crucial role in the final stages of road construction, ensuring smooth and durable surfaces. This position offers an opportunity to work with cutting edge equipment and a dynamic team in the asphalt industry.

Responsibilities:

1. Operate finish roller machinery to compact asphalt and create smooth road surfaces.
2. Collaborate with paving crews to ensure proper alignment and compaction of asphalt layers.
3. Responsible for completing and documenting a daily pre-trip equipment inspection prior to starting the work.
4. Conduct pre-operation inspections on equipment to identify any maintenance or repair needs.
5. Adjust roller settings to achieve desired compaction levels and surface finishes.
6. Monitor asphalt temperature and moisture levels to optimize compaction efficiency.
7. Work in coordination with other equipment operators and labourers to complete paving projects on schedule.
8. Adhere to all safety protocols and regulations to maintain a safe work environment.
9. Maintain accurate records of work performed, including daily production logs and equipment maintenance reports.
10. Communicate effectively with supervisors and team members to coordinate tasks and address any issues that arise.
11. Follow company policies and procedures to uphold quality standards and promote a positive work culture.
12. Regulate roller speed to ensure consistent compaction and avoid damage to the asphalt surface.

Qualifications:

1. High school diploma or equivalent.
2. Previous experience operating finish roller equipment or similar machinery in asphalt paving preferred.
3. Knowledge of asphalt paving techniques and industry best practices.
4. Ability to interpret paving plans and specifications.
5. Strong attention to detail and a commitment to quality workmanship.
6. Excellent communication and teamwork skills.
7. Valid driver's license with a clean driving record.
8. Willingness to work flexible hours, including weekends and evenings, as required by project schedules.
9. Physical ability to perform repetitive tasks and work in outdoor environments.
10. Dedication to following company policies, safety regulations, and environmental guidelines at all times.

Note: The successful candidate MUST be comfortable working the night shift.
