Qualifications

What We Are Looking For:

Aird & Berlis LLP is looking for a Paralegal in the Financial Services Practice Group to cover a 12-month maternity leave contract. The successful candidate will possess excellent attention to detail and will work well under pressure and within tight deadlines. The ideal candidate should be a self starter, dedicated to the role and a team player. As one of the first Paralegals joining our firms newly opened Vancouver location, you will be working closely and collaboratively with our seasoned Financial Services team.

Responsibilities:

  • Order, review and report on due diligence searches, including (Personal Property Security Act (“PPSA”), Uniform Commercial Code (“UCC”), and other corporate, lien and related searches
  • Under the supervision of a lawyer, assist with drafting closing agendas, officer’s certificates, resolutions, PPSA/UCC search summary letters, reporting letters, notices of assignment of tax credits and PPSA estoppels
  • Liaise with borrower’s counsel with regard to closing documentation
  • Prepare and register PPSA liens in the appropriate jurisdictions
  • Complete transaction record books
  • Update and maintain client forms and precedents
  • Accountable for all work assigned

Requirements:

  • Minimum of two (2) years experience gained as a Financial Services or Transactional Paralegal/Law Clerk
  • Successful completion of a related post-secondary program
  • Familiarity with the PPSA and UCC or a willingness to learn
  • Membership in good standing with the BCPA
  • Flexibility to work outside regular business hours when required and/or necessary

Compensation:

The salary range for this position is $70,000 - $110,000 annually; the base pay offered may vary depending on job-relate knowledge, skills, experience, and internal and market equity.
