Job summary

PwC Canada's Financial Services Risk & Regulatory practice invites you to join a team delivering accounting and risk management solutions across IFRS and US GAAP, hedge accounting, and complex financial instruments.

You will support audit and consulting engagements, evaluate control frameworks, and help design treasury and risk management strategies for diverse clients in mining, energy, and manufacturing sectors.

Qualifications

  • Working experience with IFRS and/or US GAAP.
  • CPA (or working towards CPA designation) is required.
  • Ability to research accounting topics using diverse sources and apply them practically.
  • Advanced analytical, problem-solving and multitasking/ project management skills.
  • Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced and dynamic environment while maintaining high quality and attention to detail.
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills.
  • Knowledge of financial markets capital markets products, valuation, derivatives and treasury is preferred.
  • Experience in risk management, treasury, financial services and/or regulatory compliance is a plus.
  • CFA, FRM, CBV or degree in Finance or Accounting is a plus

Responsibilities

  • Provide accounting advice related to IFRS and US GAAP, including hedge accounting and complex financial instruments.
  • Assist in audit support assignments and consulting engagements for key clients in areas such as hedging, financial instrument valuation, debt and capital transactions and derivative transactions.
  • Evaluate, develop or advise on risk management frameworks, policies, procedures, controls, tools and solutions for all key financial risks and non-financial risks.
  • Execute consulting assignments relating to treasury and risk management strategies, organizational leading practices and treasury process improvements (design and implementation).
  • Treasury and risk management control framework design and implementation (including support of our clients’ internal audit on treasury projects).
  • Develop and maintain productive relationships both internally and externally.
  • Assist in the development of GenAI solutions to transform the delivery of these services.
  • This role also offers valuable exposure to a diverse range of client industries, including mining, energy, and manufacturing, allowing you to broaden your expertise and deepen your understanding of sector-specific challenges.

A career in our Financial Services Risk & Regulatory - Financial Risk Management practice will provide you with the opportunity to contribute to a variety of consulting and assurance services to design solutions that address our clients’ complex accounting and financial reporting challenges, as well as solving their broader business issues, including but not limited to hedging, risk management governance and strategies, capital market transactions and regulatory requirements. Our team helps clients solve business issues and financial risks arising in the course of business activities. Our agile team is continuously growing and facing new exciting opportunities across multiple industries. You will work as part of a team of problem solvers and develop technical skills in complex accounting, treasury, risk management, capital markets products and regulatory requirements.

The Opportunity:

The salary range for this position is $73,400 - $122,400. The posted salary range represents the expected hiring range for PwC locations in major city centres. Given our national recruiting approach, ranges may vary for positions in other locations. At PwC Canada, base salary is determined by your skills, experience, qualifications and work location. In addition to base salary, eligible employees may have opportunities to participate in variable incentive pay programs which are designed to reward individual and firm-wide achievements.
