Job description

Who We’re Looking For

We’re seeking a Vice President with strong experience in financial risk, controls, and regulatory expectations — not necessarily a traditional auditor, but someone who understands how financial risks are measured, governed, and controlled across a global financial institution. You bring depth in Market, Credit (including Trading Credit), Interest Rate, and Liquidity Risk, and can translate that knowledge into meaningful assurance, effective challenge, and clear communication with senior leaders. You’re analytical, collaborative, and comfortable leading complex reviews in a fast‑paced environment.

Why This Role Matters

Financial risks are central to the firm’s safety, soundness, and regulatory credibility. This role provides independent assurance over the frameworks, controls, and governance that manage these risks across the enterprise. Your work strengthens the firm’s risk posture, supports regulatory expectations, and helps ensure the organization operates with transparency, discipline, and resilience. You will influence senior stakeholders, contribute to enterprise‑wide risk governance, and help mature the Corporate Audit function.

What You Will Be Responsible For

Audit & Assurance Leadership

  • Lead risk‑based reviews of Market, Credit (including Trading Credit), Interest Rate, and Liquidity Risk processes, including planning, scoping, testing, issue evaluation, and reporting.

  • Review and approve audit workpapers and deliverables to ensure conclusions are well‑supported and aligned with internal standards and regulatory expectations.

  • Prepare clear audit reports, findings, and management communications for senior and executive leadership.

Risk & Regulatory Insight

  • Conduct detailed financial risk assessments that incorporate emerging risks, regulatory developments, strategic initiatives, and control effectiveness.

  • Provide insight into evolving regulatory expectations and support interactions with regulators.

  • Stay current on industry trends and apply new developments to audit planning and execution.

Stakeholder Engagement & Influence

  • Build strong partnerships with senior leaders across Financial Risk and the lines of defense, identifying control gaps and emerging risks.

  • Participate in business and risk committees as a non‑voting member, offering constructive challenge and balanced perspectives.

  • Ensure audit coverage reflects changes in risk measurement practices, governance frameworks, and regulatory standards.

  • Escalate issues appropriately and collaborate with stakeholders to develop sustainable control improvements.

Leadership & Team Development

  • Manage, coach, and develop audit staff; contribute to talent management, performance evaluation, and hiring.

  • Support departmental initiatives that enhance audit methodology, reporting, and operational effectiveness.

Qualifications & Skills:

  • 10+ years of experience in Internal Audit, Risk Management, Financial Risk, or related control functions within financial services (custody bank experience a plus).

  • Strong understanding of Market, Credit (including Trading Credit), Interest Rate, and Liquidity Risk — including how these risks are measured, governed, and controlled.

  • Experience assessing or executing risk frameworks, compliance, governance processes, and control environments across first and second lines of defense.

  • Ability to lead complex, global audit or risk review engagements and communicate effectively with senior stakeholders.

  • Strong analytical, quantitative, and conceptual thinking skills; able to navigate complexity and prioritize effectively.

  • Proven leadership skills with experience developing and managing diverse teams.

  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills, including the ability to translate technical risk concepts into clear insights.

  • Bachelor’s degree in finance, accounting, economics, or related field required.Professional Certifications: CFA, FRM, CPA, or other advanced risk/audit certifications.
