  • Salary: Job Class 10 ($56,845 - $64,857)
  • Hours of Work: 35 hours/week, Monday to Friday
    Option for a modified work week (37.5 hours) with one earned day off every three-week cycle

Primary Function

Investigate and assess client eligibility complaints, make decisions on financial eligibility, coordinate assessments, and prepare related correspondence. Initiate and manage collections and costs awarded files, including Small Claims Court actions and Conversion to Private Retainer requests.

Core Responsibilities
  1. Review and Document Financial Eligibility Complaints: Handle complaints regarding client financial eligibility, prepare acknowledgment letters, and assess compliance with policies.
  2. Assess Client Financial Eligibility: Review eligibility through documentation, communicate with clients, investigate past and current eligibility, and manage collection procedures if necessary.
  3. Process Conversion to Private Retainer Requests: Evaluate and approve or deny requests, following up as needed.
  4. Administer Collections: Review files, initiate recovery actions, respond to inquiries, arrange payment schedules, and maintain accounts and reports.
  5. Manage Small Claims Matters: Initiate court actions, prepare pleadings, and represent the organization in court.
  6. Handle Bankruptcy Claims: Complete necessary documentation, communicate with trustees, and continue collections if applicable.
  7. Administer Settlements and Judgments: Reassess eligibility, communicate with involved parties, analyze documents, and manage collections.
  8. Perform Other Duties: Conduct skip-tracing, update records, develop templates, recommend policy changes, and perform additional tasks as required.
Qualifications

Basic Requirements:

  • Grade 12 plus legal and/or accounting courses
  • Minimum 2 years relevant experience
  • Typing speed of 40 wpm
  • Advanced MS Word skills, basic MS Excel skills
  • Equivalent education and experience considered

Rated Requirements:

  • Knowledge of court processes, financial statement analysis, and relevant policies
  • Experience with financial systems (e.g., Sage) and regulations (Small Claims, Debt Collections, Bankruptcy)
  • Discretion and confidentiality skills
  • Strong organizational, communication, and interpersonal skills
  • Ability to work independently and under pressure

Skills Testing: May include Microsoft 365 applications and typing assessments.
