Job description

Aston Carter's large client in Vancouver is seeking a Manager, Financial Reporting to join their team! Reporting to the Director, Financial Reporting, this individual will be responsible for monthly operations reporting, the consolidation process in OneStream, assisting in the consolidated reporting process and compliance filings, and undertaking/managing systems/processes related projects in support of strategic Finance team objectives.

Key Responsibilities

Financial & Operational Reporting

  • Review and validate financial and non-financial results, ensuring accuracy for financial statement close.
  • Prepare and present complete, accurate monthly management reports for senior management and the board, including consolidated and site-specific data.
  • Conduct operational analysis and provide narratives for internal and external reporting.

Financial Consolidation & System Management

  • Oversee the consolidation process in OneStream, including maintaining the close calendar, recording consolidating entries, reconciling intercompany balances, and generating consolidated financial statements.
  • Act as the point of contact for OneStream inquiries and manage system change requests, coordinating with IT and external consultants.
  • Perform OneStream administrator duties, such as updating dimensions, managing user access and security, troubleshooting, and ensuring data integrity.
  • Design and maintain reports in OneStream and PowerBI to provide up-to-date, well-presented business insights.

Operational Data Management & Analysis

  • Extract, clean, and validate data from operational systems to ensure accuracy.
  • Develop and maintain reports on key operational metrics, such as production volumes, grades, recovery rates, costs, equipment utilization, and safety incidents.
  • Conduct in-depth analysis to identify trends, root causes of bottlenecks, cost overruns, and other operational inefficiencies between actuals, forecast and budget data.

Process Improvement & Internal Controls

  • Establish and maintain procedures for accurate and timely reporting in OneStream, ensuring high-quality analysis.
  • Continuously assess and enhance financial systems, processes, and reporting capabilities.
  • Ensure internal control compliance, making recommendations for improvements as needed.

Strategic Initiatives & Ad Hoc Projects

  • Lead and support finance-related system, process, and reporting enhancements, providing training and guidance as required.
  • Assist in preparing financial reports and supporting documentation for audits, regulatory reviews, and ad hoc requests.
  • Approve payments within authorization limits and contribute to various projects or reporting tasks as required by senior management.

Additional Skills & Qualifications

Must Haves:

  • Canadian CPA designation (or international equivalent) – ACCA, US CPA.
  • 3 – 5 years of experience in senior accounting experience post designation, multi-jurisdictional public company environment
    • Strong technical accounting skills; Knowledge of IFRS, NI 52-109/SOX 404 accounting practices and reporting requirements
    • Consolidation experience
  • Mining industry experience
    • Internal reporting experience, KPI reporting, Working papers, Inventory, deferred stripping, costing of inventory, WIP to finished goods, rehabilitation prohibitions
  • Proven track record of implementing systems and process improvements.
  • Experience with a mid to large ERP system (SAP, Oracle MS Dynamics)
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to engage effectively at all levels, build strong relationships and be an effective team player.

  • Proficiency in data analysis tools such as Power BI, Tableau, and SQL, with strong analytical skills to interpret complex datasets.

Pay and Benefits

The pay range for this position is $120,000.00 - $140,000.00/yr.
