About the Job:

The Financial Supervision & Control Team (“CTL”) is part of the Second Level Permanent Control Teams, responsible for monitoring the effectiveness of the accounting and financial control framework. This ensures the quality and accuracy of Société Générale’s (“SG”) financial statements, regulatory reporting, liquidity, and capital management. The role covers Control Testing/Reviews for SG Investment Banking Business Lines linked to SG entities across the Americas. The individual will design test plans, collect samples, independently test, and report on the operational and financial control effectiveness of SG Americas Securities' financial and regulatory reporting.

The CTL Team controls all processes impacting financial and regulatory reporting across Front office, Middle office, Back office, Risk, and Finance departments, from transaction input to reporting. The individual will also interact with global teams and learn about various financial products held by SG’s U.S. and Canada entities, including corporate loans, letters of credit, securities, repos, derivatives, money market products, broker-dealer operations, underwriting, etc. Additionally, the individual may lead or participate in projects aimed at enhancing the Second Level testing, such as methodology improvements, digitalization, and data analytics. The Americas CTL Team is located in Canada, U.S., and Brazil, comprising members with diverse backgrounds to cover a broad spectrum of processes and topics.

What will be your Day-to-Day?

  • Manage the CTL team of Canada, including setting objectives, providing evaluations and feedback, coaching, and administrative tasks. Guide and train new or junior staff, assume leadership within the team, and contribute to the team’s long-term goals.
  • Perform all aspects of Level 2 control reviews on accounting and financial reporting, including identifying risk areas, conducting walkthroughs, testing controls, and following up on improvements across various financial products.
  • Propose enhancements to operational and financial control frameworks, especially regarding regulatory reporting processes.
  • Monitor risks, regulatory changes, and projects affecting the perimeter.
  • Represent the Finance Controls team before Senior Management.
  • Collaborate with first control teams to identify, measure, and report risks.
  • Lead staff in Level 2 control reviews, setting clear objectives, managing time and budgets, organizing communication, and providing feedback.
  • Stay informed on industry trends and assess their impact on SG’s regulatory reporting framework.
  • Promote technological improvements by automating workflows using tools like Alteryx, PowerBI, etc.
  • Assess control frameworks of other SG activities impacting financial reporting.
