Job summary

RBC Wealth Management is seeking a Financial Planning Specialist in Waterloo, Canada, to partner with advisors in delivering tailored financial plans for high net worth clients. You will support business development, opportunity spotting, and revenue generation while collaborating with the Planning Analyst team.

The role requires extensive tax planning and financial planning experience, strong communication, and proficiency with planning software; bilingual ability is a plus.

Qualifications

  • Five years experience with tax planning for high net worth clients.
  • Five years of relevant experience in all aspects of financial planning.
  • One or more of CA/CMA/CGA/CPA designations.
  • Effective oral and written communication skills.
  • Strong analytical and judgment skills.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office and planning software (Conquest or Naviplan).
  • Ability to work in a team and independently.
  • Nice-to-have: Bilingual English and French; investment and insurance knowledge; CFP designation.

Responsibilities

  • Prepare comprehensive financial plans addressing client needs in financial, investment, retirement, tax, risk management and estate planning.
  • Personalize each plan, covering issues like holding companies, employee stock options, IPPs, retirement compensation, gifts, and charitable planning.
  • Simplify complex strategies for advisors.
  • Collaborate with Financial Planning Analyst team in plan preparation.
  • Promote a work environment that encourages innovation, collaboration and diversity.
  • Develop internal and external networks and referral sources.

What is the opportunity?

As an integral member of the RBC Family Office Services team, your role as a Financial Planning Specialist is to work with our advisors to deliver comprehensive, customized financial plans to High Net Worth (HNW) clients of RBC Wealth Management. As a valued partner, you will also assist with business development, opportunity spotting and revenue generation.

What will you do?
  • Prepare comprehensive financial plans that meet client’s specific needs in the areas of financial, investment, retirement, tax, risk management and estate planning.
  • Personalize each financial plan to provide expert knowledge around issues affecting clients, such as: holding companies, employee stock options, individual pension plans, retirement compensation agreements, gift and charitable planning, etc.
  • Simplify complex strategies to assist advisors.
  • Work collaboratively with the Financial Planning Analyst team in the preparation of financial plans.
  • Promote and support a work environment that inspires innovation, creativity, collaboration and diversity.
  • Develop strong internal and external networks and referral sources.
What do you need to succeed?
Must-have
  • Five years experience with tax planning for high net worth clients.
  • Five years of relevant experience in all aspects of financial planning.
  • One or more of the following professional designations in Accounting: CA/CMA/CGA/CPA
  • Effective communication skills both oral and written.
  • Strong analytical and judgment skills.
  • Microsoft Office and financial planning software such as Conquest or Naviplan.
  • Ability to work both as part of a team and independently.
Nice-to-have
  • Bilingualism in English and French
  • Investment and insurance industry knowledge are also strong assets.
  • Certified Financial Planners (CFP) designation.

The expected pay range for this position is: $90,000.00 - $140,000.00
