Position Summary
Financial Planning & Analysis Manager will lead our financial planning and finance team within the M’Chigeeng First Nation. The Financial Planning & Analysis Manager will facilitate forecasting, budgeting, and financial analysis processes, providing strategic financial insights to support the community’s growth and sustainability. The ideal candidate will possess strong leadership skills, a deep understanding of financial management principles, and a proven track record of driving process improvements while working in First Nations.
Reporting Relationship
The Financial Planning & Analysis Manager will report to the Enaagdenjged.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
Working Relationships:
Receives direction, guidance, and encouragement; discusses plans and priorities.
Provides guidance, and encouragement; maintains control through teamwork and direction.
Courtesy, cooperation, and teamwork with all staff.
Represents and promotes the M’Chigeeng First Nation’s interests relative to educational services; maintains awareness of legislative, policy and program changes; seeks to develop close working relationships.
Represents and promotes educational interest and opportunities of the M’Chigeeng First Nation community members; works in a courteous, cooperative, positive, and proactive manner; provides information and advice.
Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree in finance, Accounting, or a related field; MBA or advanced degree preferred.
CPA an asset.
5+ years in financial planning and analysis, with at least 2 years in a leadership role. Experience working within Indigenous communities is an asset.
Expert financial modeling and analytical skills; proficiency in Microsoft Excel and financial software applications (e.g., Vareto).
Other Knowledge Skills & Abilities
Excellent communication, presentation, and interpersonal skills, with the ability to build relationships across diverse stakeholders within the community.
Proven ability to lead and develop high-performing teams while fostering an inclusive and culturally sensitive work environment.
Strong attention to detail, problem-solving abilities, and a results-driven approach, combined with a deep respect for the traditions and values of the M’Chigeeng First Nation.
Working Conditions:
The Financial Planning & Analysis Manager will work in a dynamic environment that requires flexibility to meet community deadlines and respond to various financial needs.
This role includes significant public contact, necessitating a commitment to transparency and accountability to community members.
Criminal Reference Check (CRC)Rationale: M’Chigeeng First Nation is in a position of trust to its band members and is committed to providing a safe and secure work environment.
