Join a purpose-driven winning team

We are committed to results within an inclusive and high-performing culture. To emphasize our purpose, we have renamed our role to Financial Planners under Scotia Financial Planning (formerly 'Investment Specialist' in the Mobile Advice Team).

As a Financial Planner, your focus will be on developing and deepening client relationships by providing high-quality advice and service within the mass affluent market. You are entrepreneurial, understanding that growing a practice involves building long-term relationships, leveraging external networks, and welcoming the freedom to grow your own practice. Your clients are your greatest asset, and your priority is to help them meet their unique financial goals through tailored investment and financial planning advice.

You excel at building new relationships and enjoy meeting clients outside of the office at times that suit both parties. You value working within the collective Scotiabank framework, which benefits your clients and your practice.

Following a comprehensive financial planning framework, you will be responsible for driving investment sales and acquiring new clients, while adhering to Global Sales Principles, compliance, and regulatory standards. You will also identify business development opportunities within your assigned market area.

Key Responsibilities
  1. Business Development: Implement plans to attract prospects and serve existing clients in the mass affluent market. Identify additional investment opportunities and facilitate the implementation of solutions or referrals.
  2. Client-Centric Approach: Provide investment solutions aligned with a financial planning framework, conduct outbound communications, and perform needs analyses across various financial statements.
  3. Community Involvement: Participate in local events and associations to expand your network. Deliver community seminars and build a market profile. Collaborate with industry specialists and manage a small marketing budget.
Qualifications and Skills
  • At least 3 years of experience in financial planning and investment sales.
  • Mutual funds certified professional with current MFDA licensing (Investments Funds in Canada or Canadian Securities Course).
  • Completed or working towards a Personal Financial Planning (PFP(R)) or Certified Financial Planner (CFP(R)) designation.
  • Strong networking, client acquisition, and interpersonal skills, with experience building Centres of Influence (COIs).
  • Goal-oriented, entrepreneurial, able to work independently and within a team.
  • Extensive knowledge of market trends, offerings, economic conditions, and regulations.
  • Valid driver’s license and access to a vehicle for client meetings.
Benefits
  • Entrepreneurial culture with career development opportunities.
  • Flexible, fast-paced work environment with self-set hours.
  • Compensation based on client growth and retention.
  • Access to advanced resources, marketing support, and technology.
  • Opportunity to build lasting client relationships and deliver exceptional service remotely.
  • Partnership with branches and access to Scotia Global Asset Management.
  • Inclusive culture promoting diversity and respect.
