About The Role

Whether our clients are just starting a business, building bigger than ever, or simply looking for the right advice to keep things in order, our Group Retirement Consulting team is there to care for the needs of our clients today, tomorrow and every day after that.

We’re looking for a detail-oriented and client-focused Financial Planner to join our team. The Financial Planner will be responsible for supporting our group plan members in their savings journey through to retirement. The Financial Planner will also be involved in delivering investment reviews to our group retirement plan sponsors. The successful candidate will be highly organized, personable, capable, and hardworking, with a desire to learn and work both independently and as part of a tight-knit team.

What You’ll Do
  1. Lead 1:1 meetings with Group Plan members to discuss all aspects of the Group Plan, transitioning to receiving income in Retirement, Financial wellness, and Wealth Management needs. These meetings will be both in person and virtual.
  2. Support group plan members with financial planning decisions throughout their savings journey.
  3. Utilize company-approved software for financial planning purposes.
  4. Develop relationships with group plan sponsors.
  5. Prepare and deliver group retirement investment review reports to plan sponsors.
  6. Participate in Integrated Selling activities with other lines of Business at NFP.
  7. Engage in marketing activities and webinars to promote NFP’s Retirement Business.
  8. Represent NFP in multi-product line initiatives within Group Benefits and other lines of Business.
What You Bring
  • Willingness to have fun at work and create warm, friendly relationships with clients.
  • College or university graduate, or equivalent business experience.
  • Completion of the Life Licensed Qualification Program (LLQP).
  • Certified Financial Planner (CFP) or Qualified Associate Financial Planner (QAFP) designation.
  • Typically, five years of experience in the group retirement insurance or financial planning/insurance industry.
  • Strong communication skills, both oral and written.
  • Knowledge of group plan investment options (pensions, RRSPs, DPSPs, TFSAs) and investment categories.
  • Excellent listening, communication, project management, presentation, and negotiation skills.
  • Positive attitude and team-oriented mindset.
  • Proficiency in Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Outlook.
  • Attention to detail, mathematical aptitude, and commitment to client service excellence.
