Role Overview

As a Financial Planner, you'll proactively help Members achieve their financial goals by understanding their unique situation and recommending tailored strategies in investments, education, retirement, estate planning, risk management, and tax issues. Building trust and relationships, you'll coordinate with internal partners to provide holistic financial solutions.

Key Responsibilities

  • Conduct thorough discovery to anticipate Member needs and develop relevant financial plans.
  • Review and adjust plans based on life or economic changes.
  • Educate Members on investment options and costs, providing transparent advice.
  • Balance asset acquisition with liquidity needs.
  • Expand Meridian’s share of wallet by offering comprehensive financial services.
  • Maintain current knowledge of wealth and banking products.
  • Prepare financial reports and summaries to establish credibility.
  • Own problems and decisions, ensuring solutions align with Member and Meridian interests.
  • Collaborate with branch partners to identify new business opportunities.

Qualifications

  • Minimum 3 years in financial services advising.
  • MFDA licensing required; IIROC licensing coursework may be needed.
  • Progress towards PFP, CFP, CIM, TEP, or similar is an asset.
  • Knowledge of wealth management, risk, tax, estate, and retirement planning.
  • Strong business development, networking, and time management skills.
  • Proficiency with software tools related to investments and planning.
