Join a purpose-driven, results-oriented team committed to an inclusive, high-performing culture.

Our name has been refreshed to Financial Planners under Scotia Financial Planning (formerly ‘Investment Specialist’ under the Mobile Advice Team). Join a purpose-driven, results-oriented team committed to an inclusive, high-performing culture!

As a Financial Planner, you will focus on developing and deepening client relationships by providing high-quality advice and service within the mass affluent market. You understand that growing a practice involves building long-term relationships and leveraging your external networks and centers of influence. You value the freedom to grow your own practice and prioritize your clients’ asset and goal achievement.

You excel at building new relationships and enjoy meeting clients outside of the office, on schedules that suit both parties. You work within a collective Scotiabank framework that benefits your clients and your practice.

Following a comprehensive financial planning framework, you will be responsible for driving investment sales and new client acquisition, while adhering to Global Sales Principles, compliance, and regulatory requirements. You will also establish business development opportunities with prospects and clients within your assigned market area.

Is this role right for you? In this role, you will:

  • Business Development: Execute business development plans for prospects and existing clients, identify additional investment opportunities, and facilitate the implementation of investment solutions or referrals.
  • Client-Centric: Provide client-centric investment solutions through a financial planning framework, conduct outbound communications, proactive calling, and needs analysis across various financial statements.
  • Community Involvement: Participate in local professional and community events, deliver community information sessions and seminars, and build a market profile. Network with industry specialists while managing a small marketing budget.

Do you have the skills to succeed? - We’d Love To Work With You If You Have:

  • At least 3 years of experience in financial planning and investment sales.
  • Current accreditation and good standing for MFDA licensing (Mutual Funds in Canada or Canadian Securities Course).
  • Completed a Personal Financial Planning (PFP) or Certified Financial Planner (CFP) designation.
  • Proven networking, client acquisition, and interpersonal skills, with experience building Centres of Influence (COIs).
  • Goal-oriented, entrepreneurial, and able to work independently and within a team.
  • Extensive knowledge of market trends, economic conditions, regulatory environment, and competitive offerings.
  • A valid driver’s license and access to a vehicle to meet clients within the district.

What’s in it for you?

  • An entrepreneurial culture with career development opportunities.
  • A flexible, fast-paced work environment with self-set hours and client meetings.
  • Compensation that rewards client growth and retention.
  • Access to advanced resources, including marketing support, mobile technology, CRM, and financial planning software.
  • Opportunities to build lasting client relationships through exceptional advice and service.
  • Partnerships with branches and Scotia Global Asset Management for an enhanced client experience.
  • A diverse, respectful, and inclusive work culture.

  • The role offers a base salary plus variable pay. It is a mobile role requiring frequent travel.
