At Raymond James, we develop, collaborate, decide, deliver, and improve together.

Raymond James Ltd. is Canada’s leading independent investment dealer, offering high-quality investment products and services to Canadians seeking customized solutions for their wealth management needs.

Certified Financial Planner, ideally with a CRPC (USA) or CPA designation

Are you looking to grow your career in the wealth advisory business?

The successful candidate will join Aspira Wealth, one of the larger teams in the Victoria, BC branch, where there is ample opportunity for growth. We operate with servant hearts – with our clients and each other. The team is made up of passionate people from all walks of life, united by our commitment to our clients. Relationship-driven and collaborative, the right candidate will flourish here.

Our culture is guided by our client first, then team, then self, ethos. We are guided by our agreed expectations: work as a team and log the details, show up on time fully prepared, do what you say and hold one another to account, measure what is important and recognize that important things are not always measurable, say please and thank you – good morning and goodnight.

What will your role be responsible for?

  • Attend client and prospective client meetings with our Wealth Advisors to address planning specifics and document the clients’ stories and their hopes for the future.
  • Prepare client financial plans in light of client aspirations and make recommendations to improve their situation including optimization of pension start dates (CPP/OAS), early RRSP withdrawals, RRIF conversions and other tax planning strategies to maximize wealth. Assist in the preparation of client meeting materials.
  • Respond to queries from clients and other team members on all matters related to tax and planning, including closely held corporations and trusts.
  • Assist the team in keeping client plans up to date and produce reports that measure progress against the plan.
  • Be committed to keeping client records up to date with our Customer Relationship Management (CRM) software.

What can you expect from us?

Our most important investment is in people. Upon eligibility, Raymond James Ltd offers flexible workstyles, a competitive compensation and benefits package.

Our benefits range from Health Benefits, RRSP Matching Program, Employee Stock Purchase Plan, Paid Time Off, Volunteer Days, Discretionary Bonuses, Tuition Reimbursement, and many more. We also support internal promotion and community involvement.

What do we expect from you?

  • Excellent skills in financial planning software, including the incorporation of holding companies.
  • Excellent verbal, written, and interpersonal communication skills.
  • Initiative to resolve issues both internally and client-facing.
  • Contribution to our can-do team culture.
  • Adherence to processes and a constant improvement.
  • To be a team player motivated by a commitment to serve.
  • To invest in your professional career and maintain up-to-date knowledge in all areas of financial planning, including education, retirement, income tax, estate and insurance and risk management.

Qualifications

  • Extensive knowledge of Canadian and cross border financial planning and their key concepts.
  • Extensive knowledge of all Canadian investment solution structures and accounts, and their respective income tax and succession law considerations.
  • Exceptional etiquette and client service skills including experience in face-to-face, videoconferencing, and telephone scenarios. Potential scenarios include identifying client opportunities and providing potential solutions to client challenges throughout the planning process that align with goals-based planning.
  • Strong, confident presentation skills.
  • Demonstrating sound judgement and collaboration with RJL’s Total Wealth Solutions complimentary departments (Tax Consulting, Tax Preparation, Insurance Solutions, Corporate Trustee, and Philanthropy), where appropriate.
  • Excellent time management, organizational, and prioritizing skills.
  • Exercise tact and the utmost discretion in the handling of client private, confidential information and collaborating with their other professional advisors (tax and legal).

Education and Experience

  • A post-secondary education or an equivalent combination of experience and education.
  • Three+ years of practical, client facing financial planning experience, including Canadian operating, professional and holding corporations, private trusts, and cross-border considerations.
  • Experience preparing and delivering financial plans for HNW Canadian families in the Wealth Management industry.
  • Worked with Conquest Planning or Naviplan software in the last two years.

We encourage our associates at all levels to:

  • Make prompt, pragmatic choices and act with the client in mind.
  • Take ownership and hold themselves and others accountable for delivering results.
  • Contribute to the continuous evolution and betterment of Aspira Wealth.
