Job description

Provides financial and investment planning and advice to deliver solutions in the best interests of the customer. Determines client needs and offers solutions through the sales of managed products and services, such as mutual funds, retirement savings plans, and similar products. Also provides other solutions indirectly through referrals to business partners.

  1. Takes a proactive lead in engaging with new and existing customers and prospects by conducting needs-based assessments to foster loyalty and identify opportunities.
  2. Implements business development strategies to acquire new business, including outbound calling campaigns and cultivating branch referrals.
  3. Engages customers to grow BMO’s business by reaching out, generating appointments, and building new community relationships.
  4. Identifies opportunities during customer conversations to generate referrals for personal and commercial banking products, such as personal banking, lending, and investments.
  5. Supports the achievement of sales and performance targets.
  6. Develops and executes a relationship management plan tailored to client needs.
  7. Responds to customer investment requests, aligns solutions with their goals, and refers to partners when appropriate.
  8. Develops solutions and makes recommendations based on understanding of business strategy and stakeholder needs.
  9. Analyzes data and strategic problems to provide insights and recommendations.
  10. Delivers timely, accurate, and efficient service.
  11. Introduces clients to investment strategies, assisting them in setting goals and making financial progress using appropriate guidance tools.
  12. Probes to understand personal investment and banking needs, integrating marketing promotions into customer conversations to provide strategic advice.
  13. Contributes to improving overall business results and customer experience.
  14. Maintains current knowledge of personal investment products, practices, and trends, and applies this knowledge during customer interactions.
  15. May work across multiple branches and channels to deliver the desired customer experience and meet business objectives.
  16. Builds effective relationships with internal and external stakeholders.
  17. Protects the Bank's assets and complies with all regulatory, legal, and ethical standards.
  18. Focus may be on a specific business group.
  19. Thinks creatively and proposes innovative solutions.

Qualifications:
  1. Typically 3-5 years of relevant experience with a post-secondary degree in a related field or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
  2. Must meet licensing and registration requirements as a Financial Planner in the relevant province or territory.
  3. Advanced knowledge of the financial industry.
  4. Specialized knowledge from education and/or business experience.
  5. Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
