Job Title: Financial Controller

Position Summary:

We are seeking a highly skilled and detail-oriented Financial Controller to join our team in Moose Jaw, Saskatchewan. This is a key leadership role responsible for overseeing all financial and accounting functions within our agricultural organization. The ideal candidate will hold a CPA designation, have a minimum of 5 years of progressive accounting/finance experience, and bring relevant experience within the agriculture sector.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Oversee day-to-day accounting operations, including accounts payable, receivable, payroll, and general ledger.
  • Prepare and analyze monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements.
  • Lead the budgeting, forecasting, and financial planning processes.
  • Provide financial insights and recommendations to senior leadership to support strategic decision-making.
  • Ensure compliance with regulatory requirements and internal controls.
  • Manage relationships with external auditors, banks, and other financial stakeholders.
  • Supervise and mentor accounting staff, promoting professional growth and high performance.
  • Implement and maintain accounting systems and financial reporting tools.
  • Monitor working capital, cash flow, and risk management strategies.
  • Support business operations with cost analysis, margin analysis, and operational efficiency reviews, particularly related to agriculture production and supply chains.

Qualifications:

  • CPA designation (CA, CGA, or CMA).
  • Minimum of 5 years of experience in a similar financial leadership role.
  • Strong background in agriculture, agri-business, or related industry preferred.
  • Proven ability to manage a small finance team and lead process improvement initiatives.
