Our recruitment agency has partnered with a highly respected player in the residential and commercial construction industry, currently undergoing strong growth. We are conducting a confidential search for an experienced Controller to lead financial operations and reporting.

This is a unique opportunity for a finance leader with deep roots in construction or real estate development to step into a strategic role and shape the financial integrity of a dynamic organization.

Role Overview:

Reporting directly to executive leadership, the Controller will take ownership of full-cycle accounting operations, oversee the financial reporting process, and support project and corporate finance functions. The successful candidate will ensure financial discipline across multiple active developments and construction sites, while also supporting strategic planning and operational leadership.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Lead the preparation and delivery of monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements and project draw packages.
  • Manage full-cycle accounting functions including accounts payable, accounts receivable, general ledger, cost accounting, and payroll.
  • Monitor bank accounts and all financial transactions to ensure accuracy and compliance.
  • Troubleshoot complex issues relating to receivables, payables, and project accounting.
  • Oversee invoice approvals and ensure proper tracking of commission, financing, and construction costs against budgets.
  • Prepare cash flow forecasts, project budgets, and financial models to support decision-making and project planning.
  • Coordinate tax filings, year-end audits, and liaise with external accountants and consultants.
  • Drive implementation of internal controls and best practices across the finance department.
  • Mentor and manage the accounting team, defining clear responsibilities, procedures, and KPIs.
  • Collaborate with internal departments and external partners on all matters related to development finances.
  • Support senior leadership with special projects, analysis, and strategic reporting.

Ideal Candidate Profile:

  • Bachelors degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field.
  • CPA designation (preferred).
  • 5+ years of experience in construction accounting or real estate development (residential and/or commercial).
  • Proven ability to manage full-cycle accounting and reporting for complex development projects.
  • Advanced proficiency in Excel and accounting platforms relevant to construction/development environments.
  • Strong leadership and organizational skills with the ability to manage a small team.
  • Detail-oriented, independent, and capable of managing competing priorities in a fast-paced setting.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
