Main Mission

AULT, a company of Alta Equipment Group, is seeking a full-time Financial Controller Assistant for our Waterloo, QC branch. This position can be hybrid or remote. The main responsibilities of the position consist of, but are not limited to:

The Assistant Controller supports the Controller in the collection, analysis, and management of financial and budgeting data within the company. They play an active role in the implementation and monitoring of financial and budgeting procedures.

Key Responsibilities
  • Budgeting and Financial Monitoring: Collect and analyze financial data from various departments.
  • Assist in preparing the annual budgets and revising financial forecasts.
  • Monitor variances between budgeted and actual results on a regular basis.
  • Help set up and track Key Performance Indicators (KPIs) to assess operational performance.
  • Cost and Profitability Analysis: Analyze production costs, expenses, and margins to identify optimization opportunities.
  • Conduct profitability analysis on projects or products to support decision-making.
  • Inventory follow up for parts and Equipment
  • Financial Reporting: Assist in the preparation of monthly, quarterly, and annual financial reports for management.
  • Write detailed analysis reports outlining variances, risks, and opportunities.
  • Ensure that financial databases and dashboards are regularly updated.
  • Participate in the analysis of the profitability of ongoing investments and projects.
  • Track the progress and associated expenditures of projects in collaboration with project managers.
  • Suggest improvements to financial management tools and reporting procedures.
  • Participate in optimizing financial management systems and accounting software.
  • Support for Management: Provide operational and strategic support to management regarding financial and budgeting matters.
  • Assist in preparing for internal and external audits.
  • Address ad-hoc requests from management regarding financial analysis.
  • Cross-Departmental Collaboration: Work closely with various departments (Accounting, HR, Purchasing, etc.) to gather relevant financial data.
  • Ensure smooth communication between departments to ensure timely and accurate data flow.
Required Skills
  • Bilingual in French and English, both spoken and written (mandatory) – The person will have to communicate with colleagues located in English-speaking provinces.
  • Proficiency in office tools (Excel, Word, PowerPoint).
  • Microsoft Business Central ERP is a plus
  • Attention to detail, organizational skills, and the ability to work well in a team.
  • Strong analytical skills and the ability to summarize financial data.
  • Comfort with numbers and the ability to make decisions based on quantitative analysis.
Ideal Profile
  • Minimum of a Bac + 5 years' experience in Accounting, Finance, or Management
  • CPA Designation
  • Previous experience in a similar role is a plus.
  • Good interpersonal skills and the ability to work in a dynamic environment.
