Job description

Yukon First Nation’s Wildfire (YFNW) is seeking a highly motivated and experienced Financial Controller to join our team. This full-time position offers an exciting opportunity to support a dynamic, growing organization grounded in Indigenous values, operational excellence, and community impact.

Key Responsibilities:

This is a hands-on role that covers the full spectrum of financial management—from high-level strategy to day-to-day detail. Responsibilities include:

  • Overseeing all financial operations, including budgeting, forecasting, and reporting
  • Managing the day-to-day financials: processing payroll, accounts payable/receivable, and bank reconciliations
  • Entering and organizing receipts, invoices, and supporting documents
  • Supporting project-based tracking and financial reporting
  • Preparing financial statements and liaising with auditors
  • Ensuring compliance with regulations and internal controls
  • Contributing to strategic financial planning and organizational decision-making

Qualifications:

  • Strong experience in financial management, accounting, or bookkeeping—CPA designation is welcome but equivalent hands-on experience is equally valued Strong background in day-to-day bookkeeping and accounting practices
  • Experience using the following tools:
  • QuickBooks
  • Payworks
  • Plooto
  • Microsoft Office (especially Excel, Outlook, Word)
  • Highly organized with strong attention to detail
  • Comfortable working independently while being an active part of a collaborative, in-office team environment, with potential for remote work
