Partners Community Health (PCH) is a new not-for-profit organization focused on bringing healthcare services together around the needs of people living in Mississauga and West Toronto. PCH operates two state-of-the-art LTC homes and a community hub in West Mississauga, with a combined 632 beds. The organization aims to introduce innovative, inclusive programs and new models of care delivery, building partnerships and connections that prioritize people and foster a learning healthcare community that provides best-in-class service across the aging continuum.

Position Summary:

PCH is seeking a Controller to lead financial operations, ensuring timely collections, payments, and payroll processing. The Controller will oversee and guide department leads (AR, AP, Payroll, Administrative departments), lead external financial statement audits, and advise on corporate accounting policies. The Director also oversees administrative support functions, including scheduling, facility management, and revenue operations, to enable PCH’s business operations.

Responsibilities:

Finance Operations and Reporting

  • Lead effective management and operational performance of financial functions, including accounting and finance activities.
  • Prepare financial statements, including income statements, balance sheets, cash flow statements, and funder reports.
  • Manage Resident Trust Accounts and oversee treasury and cash management functions.
  • Direct corporate accounting processes, ensuring compliance with regulatory standards and GAAP.
  • Maintain accurate records of accounts payable, receivable, fixed assets, general ledger, payroll, and banking transactions.
  • Advise on corporate accounting policies and procedures.
  • Lead external audits and develop accounting policies and procedures.
  • Monitor expenditures and routine financial activities.
  • Ensure service orientation across departments to support effective service delivery.
  • Drive continuous improvement initiatives to enhance financial processes and reporting accuracy.
  • Ensure compliance with accounting standards, tax laws, and regulations.
  • Establish internal controls to safeguard assets and ensure data integrity.

Accounts Payable/Receivable/Payroll

  • Ensure timely payments to vendors and collections from residents.
  • Support accurate and timely payroll processing in compliance with regulations.
  • Address escalated issues related to payroll, AP, and AR.

Office Management

  • Optimize procedures and workflows related to administration.
  • Oversee the administration office to ensure smooth operations and a welcoming environment.
  • Embed the organization’s mission and values into all aspects of corporate administration.

Leadership and Collaboration

  • Lead, mentor, and motivate team members, fostering an inclusive and collaborative environment.
  • Support the development and execution of PCH’s strategic priorities.
  • Collaborate with the CFO and executive team on financial strategies, cost optimization, and revenue growth.

Key Interactions:

  • Work closely with the Director of Business Planning and Performance on financial results and planning.
  • Communicate HR concerns related to payroll with the Director of People & Culture.
  • Coordinate with LTC Directors and the Seniors Hub Director on payroll impacts and resource scheduling.
  • Discuss and resolve AP/AR issues with relevant Directors.
  • Collaborate with the Support Services Director on facilities and supply issues.
