Rock-Tech, based in Sudbury, Ontario, seeks an experienced Financial Controller to oversee the accounting department and streamline budgeting, payroll, and financial reporting to boost efficiency and growth.

Qualifications

  • University or College degree in business, accounting, or related field.
  • 5+ years proven corporate accounting experience in a senior accounting or financial management role with at least 2 years’ experience in human resources.
  • Professional accounting certification (CMA, CGA, CA) or equivalent.
  • Strong understanding of month end & year-end financial reporting and payroll systems.
  • Proficiency with Power BI, Excel, Word and email.

Responsibilities

  • Provide comprehensive financial updates to senior management by evaluating, analyzing, and reporting appropriate data points.
  • Develop and manage financial controls in accordance with the company’s procedures.
  • Achieve budgeting goals with proper scheduling, analysis, and corrective action.
  • Help develop and support short and long-term operational strategies.
  • Manage and monitor all accounts, ledgers, and reporting accounting systems ensuring compliance with government standards.

We’re seeking an experienced Financial Controller to oversee the accounting department. The ideal candidate will have proven industry experience as a controller or accountant, preferably in a senior role. As a strong communicator and skilled financial analyst, it will be your mission to streamline our budgeting, payroll, and financial reporting processes and produce thorough financial-status reports for senior management to help improve our operational efficiency and aid in our continued growth. In addition to company-wide competencies:
  • University or College’s degree in business, accounting, or related field.
  • 5+ years proven corporate accounting experience in a senior accounting or financial management role with at least 2 years’ experience in human resources.
  • Professional accounting certification, CMA, CGA, or CA , or an equivalent combination of related experience and education is required.
  • Strong understanding of company month end & year-end financial reporting as well as payroll systems.
  • Strong understanding of economic and banking processes
  • Proven skills in verbal and written communication in English (French would be considered an asset)
  • Excellent Computer knowledge, especially experience with accounting systems, Word, Excel, Power BI, Internet, and email.
  • Ability to work closely with the senior management team.
  • Impeccable analytical and organizational skills.
  • Self-motivated and self-directed.
Key responsibilities include:
  • Provide comprehensive financial updates to senior management by evaluating, analyzing, and reporting appropriate data points.
  • Develop and manage financial controls in accordance with the company’s procedures.
  • Achieve budgeting goals with proper scheduling, analysis, and corrective action
  • Help develop and support short and long-term operational strategies
  • Manage and monitor all accounts, ledgers, and reporting accounting systems ensuring compliance with appropriate government standards and regulatory requirements.
  • Maintain internal control safeguards for the receipt of revenue, costs and both team and organizational budgets and actual expenditures
  • In conjunction with the senior management team, establish financial and operating benchmarks, budgets, program monitoring, and reporting standards on a weekly, bi-weekly, monthly, and annual basis
  • Implement consistent accounting policies, practices, and procedures across all programs, upholding all government and local legal standards by remaining knowledgeable about existing, new, and future legislation.
  • Develop and enforce internal controls to maximize protection of company assets, policies, procedures, and workflow.
  • Prepare accounting month end and year report.
  • Oversee and support accounting team with dynamic leadership that creates an environment of trust and productivity.
  • Must be able to understand and backup all accounting department duties and manage the accounting department staff.
  • Maximize payroll & HR efficiency through innovative process development systems.
  • Manage the preparation of payroll, bonus, commission, T4 and report all government payroll monthly and year end reports.
  • Keep up to date on current HR trends and maintain the employee’s information.
Compensation & Work Schedule:

Education:
