Job description

Position Overview

Reporting to the Vice President, the Controller is responsible for overseeing the company’s accounting operations, financial reporting, and internal controls. This role ensures accuracy and compliance in all financial activities, provides leadership to the accounting team, and supports strategic decision-making by delivering timely financial insights. Standard hours are in office, 8:00am – 4:30pm, Monday to Friday.

Successful candidate will be located in or near Langley, BC.

Duties and Responsibilities
  • Managing and coordinating all fiscal reporting activities including: Income Statements, Balance Sheets, Cash-Flow statements, LOC reporting to the bank
  • Managing and coordinating Accounts Payable and Accounts Receivable
  • Managing and coordinating the annual budget process and in-year forecasts
  • Providing management with financial information vital to the decision-making process
  • Ensure all accounting and financial data is organized, up-to-date, and backed up
  • Producing weekly, monthly, quarterly and annual reports for Senior Management
  • Completing YE financials for external accounting firm
  • Ensure compliance with accounting standards, financial laws, and regulations, internal financial controls and procedures
  • Monitor and report on trends that are critical to the organizations’ financial performance
  • Conduct Financial Risk Management
  • Assessing current accounting operations, offering recommendations for improvement and implementing new processes
  • Evaluating and maintaining accounting and internal control systems
  • Manage/Develop/Implement special projects
  • Overseeing regulatory reporting, including tax compliance
  • 1-2 direct reports
Required Skills & Qualifications
  • 5+ years of recent accounting and administrative experience in a similar role
  • Relevant Accounting Education designations (Diplomas or Degrees in accounting) (CPA designation is not required, but is an asset)
  • NetSuite/Oracle/Spire ERP experience is preferred (or similar platforms)
  • Proven ability to design and implement best practices for an ERP to ensure efficient and effective processes within each department
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office (specifically Outlook & Excel)
  • Intermediate Excel
  • Experience with Forex Trade an asset
  • Demonstrated ability to evaluate company financial performance and take necessary steps for improvement and growth
  • Detail-oriented professional with a focused and disciplined approach to task management
  • Capable of multi-tasking and prioritizing daily duties while simultaneously handling larger projects
  • Demonstrates exceptional problem-solving ability
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills
  • Self-motivated individual who can work with little supervision or assistance
  • High level of communication skills both verbal and written
  • Valid BC Driver’s License and access to personal vehicle
