About Rocket Factory:

Rocket Factory is a premium craft cannabis producer situated on 30 acres of farmland in Chatham, Ontario. Our 31,000-square-foot, purpose-built indoor growing facility is designed to cultivate the finest cannabis flower in the industry. We pride ourselves on producing small-batch, hand-manicured cannabis, which has positioned us as one of Canada’s most sought-after craft cannabis producers. Role Summary:

The Controller will oversee all aspects of the company’s financial operations, including financial reporting, cost accounting, inventory management, and cash flow planning. This is a pivotal role within a lean and dynamic team, suited for a detail-oriented leader who thrives in a hands-on environment.

The Controller will work closely with the business development function to support commercial initiatives, pricing strategies, and customer onboarding. The role also provides direct financial and operational support for the end-to-end sales fulfillment process - from the point inventory is deemed saleable through to order processing, outbound shipping, and invoicing. The Controller will additionally oversee the purchasing and logistics functions to ensure timely procurement and efficient distribution in alignment with production and sales activity.

General expectations

  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field
  • CPA designation is significantly preferred
  • 5+ years of progressive accounting experience, including at least 2 years in a Controller, Assistant Controller or similar leadership role
  • Strong understanding of IFRS, with working knowledge of IAS 2 and IAS 41considered an asset
  • Experience in manufacturing, agriculture, CPG, or cannabis industry strongly preferred
  • Demonstrated experience with inventory costing, financial reporting, and month-end close processes
  • Proficient in accounting systems (e.g., QuickBooks Online) and Excel; experience with ERP or cannabis traceability systems is an asset
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with a focus on process improvement and operational efficiency
  • Excellent organizational, communication, and interpersonal skills
  • Comfortable working in a fast-paced, cross-functional environment with shifting priorities
  • Hands-on, collaborative approach with a willingness to dive into details and support adjacent operational functions
  • Experience with Quickbooks Online is an asset
  • On-site presence is required; remote work is not available for this position.
  • Monday to Friday, 8:30am-5pm.

Key responsibilities

  • Lead the month-end and year-end close processes, ensuring timely and accurate financial reporting under IFRS.
  • Prepare monthly financial statements and regular management reporting packages.
  • Maintain the robust inventory and cost accounting processes currently in place, in accordance with IAS 2 and IAS 41, including valuation of biological assets and finished goods.
  • Track and analyze cultivation, processing, and packaging costs to support margin improvement and pricing decisions.
  • Monitor cash flow, working capital, and vendor payments; support forecasting and budgeting activities
  • Support business development with financial input on commercial terms, pricing models, customer credit review and onboarding
  • Oversee the full order-to-cash cycle, including invoice processing, PO fulfillment and receivables management.
  • Manage the purchasing function to ensure timely procurement aligned with production and sales forecasts
  • Manage the accounting team and other direct reports, providing day-to-day oversight, reviewing work for accuracy, and supporting team members’ development
  • Coordinate with external accountants, auditors, and consultants as required for assurance, tax, or compliance matters
  • Partner cross-functionally with cultivation, post-harvest, quality, and sales teams to support operational and strategic initiatives.
