KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:
Reporting to the Manager, Financial Services - Reporting, the Financial Analyst prepares the month-end and year-end working papers to support the preparation of financial reports and the financial statements. The incumbent assists with preparation of monthly, quarterly and annual financial reports and with the development and preparation of forecasts. The incumbent ensures that accounting procedures are followed and that transactions are recorded properly, and examines and adjusts accounting records accordingly. The Financial Analyst is also required to proactively research and identify funding opportunities for City initiatives; assist in the development and submission of funding proposals and applications; and in preparation and submission of reports relevant to funding received by the City. This position acts as a liaison between the Financial Services Division and other departments within the organization and assists with reconciling the various subsystems to the financial software.
QUALIFICATIONS:
An undergraduate university degree in accounting or a related field is required along with a minimum of five years of experience in an accounting setting, or a related field. The incumbent must be enrolled as a Candidate in the CPA (Chartered Professional Accountant program). Experience in a government setting is preferred.
The candidate must be proficient in MS Office suite, as well as have knowledge of methods of systems analysis and the principles, design, and procedural methods used in big data analysis.
SALARY:
The City of Yellowknife offers a starting salary of $96,641.50 per annum, as well as a comprehensive benefits package, including a defined benefit pension plan, and a monthly housing and vacation travel allowance totaling $450.
