Financial Analyst, M&A Integration

Our GFL team is expanding, and we’re looking for a Financial Analyst, M&A Integration to join our North American team. In this role, you will be responsible for supporting the integration of acquired entities, ranging from small "tuck-ins" to substantial acquisitions, in a highly acquisitive organization. The Financial Analyst, M&A Integration will report to the Director, Integrations-Finance to ensure alignment between GFL’s integration strategy and financial reporting best practices. This role involves assisting the finance teams of newly acquired entities until they are integrated into GFL’s finance functions, such as financial reporting, payroll, treasury, shared services, FP&A, and tax.

A Day in the Life of a Financial Analyst, M&A
  • Assist in developing detailed integration plans, including coordination and tracking of tasks for each acquisition, in conjunction with the Integration Controller, covering all finance areas such as financial reporting, treasury, shared services, FP&A, and tax.
  • Provide pre-closing integration support, including monitoring due diligence materials, preparing for financial assurance replacement, and coordinating supplier transitions.
  • Support project health monitoring from transition to project close.
  • Help prepare acquisition integration presentations for internal stakeholders.
  • Coordinate with the IT team.
  • Review, analyze, and clean data received prior to conversion into GFL systems.
  • Build integration data books with site-level information.
  • Support the integration of newly acquired entities into GFL’s financial processes, including mapping trial balances, supporting monthly/quarterly closes, creating G/L entries, and monitoring reconciliations.
  • Act as the point of contact for GFL requests and support administrative issues.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
  • Knowledge of accounting; CPA designation or pursuing is preferred; 3-5+ years of experience.
  • Exceptional organization and project management skills.
  • Strong accounting and financial reporting knowledge.
  • Understanding of business processes like Revenue and Procurement Cycles.
  • Knowledge of Workday, Great Plains, Cognos, Tower, and Trux is an asset.
  • Knowledge of the waste management business is an asset.
  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively.
  • Familiarity with project management tools.
  • Ability to thrive in a fast-paced, ambiguous environment.
  • Detail-oriented.
