Job summary

Tangerine in Toronto is seeking a Financial Analyst in IT Finance (Management Accounting) to drive reporting, budgeting, forecasting, and month-end close for technology expenses and investments.

You will partner with Finance, IT, and PMO to provide insights, support planning, monitor expenditures, and improve processes through automation and analytics.

Applicants should have a finance degree, CPA is a plus, 1–3 years experience, and strong Excel and Power BI skills.

Qualifications

  • University or College degree in Finance, Accounting, or a related discipline.
  • CPA designation or progress toward a professional accounting designation is an asset.
  • 1 to 3 years of experience in financial analysis, reporting, budgeting, forecasting, or management accounting.
  • Strong understanding of financial statements, variance analysis, accruals, and expense management.
  • Advanced Microsoft Excel skills, including data analysis, reporting, and financial modeling.
  • Experience with large datasets and translating data into actionable insights.
  • Knowledge of financial systems such as PeopleSoft, Hyperion OBI, Anaplan, or Coupa is an asset.
  • Experience with Power BI, Power Query, reporting automation, or AI tools is an asset.
  • Strong analytical, problem-solving, organizational skills with attention to detail.
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities and meet tight deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
  • Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills.
  • Proactive mindset with passion for continuous improvement and technology.

Responsibilities

  • Support month-end, quarter-end, and year-end financial reporting activities.
  • Process, code, and reconcile IT invoices with accuracy and timeliness.
  • Prepare operating expense accruals, reconciliations, and variance analyses.
  • Monitor technology Opex and CapEx against budgets and forecasts.
  • Support annual planning and quarterly forecasting with spending trend analyses.
  • Prepare financial analysis and reporting to support management decisions.
  • Track project costs and capitalized expenses across technology initiatives.
  • Partner with Finance, IT, PMO and business stakeholders to improve reporting.
  • Identify risks, discrepancies, and opportunities for improvement.
  • Assist with reporting automation, dashboards, and continuous process improvements.

The Financial Analyst, IT Finance (Management Accounting) contributes to the overall success of the Finance team by supporting financial reporting, budgeting, forecasting, and month-end activities related to Technology expenses and investments. The role provides meaningful financial insights, ensures accurate financial controls, and partners with stakeholders across Finance, IT, and PMO to support business decision-making and operational excellence. Responsibilities are carried out in compliance with governing regulations, internal policies, and procedures.

Is this role right for you? In this role you will:
  • Support month-end, quarter-end, and year-end financial reporting activities.
  • Process, code, and reconcile IT invoices while ensuring accuracy and timely completion.
  • Prepare operating expense accruals, reconciliations, and variance analysis reports.
  • Monitor technology operating and capital expenditures against approved budgets and forecasts.
  • Support annual planning and quarterly forecasting processes by analyzing spending trends and business requirements.
  • Prepare financial analysis and reporting to support management decision-making.
  • Track project costs, commitments, and capitalized expenses across technology initiatives.
  • Partner with Finance, IT, PMO, and business stakeholders to provide financial insights and improve reporting processes.
  • Identify financial risks, discrepancies, and opportunities for improvement, escalating issues when appropriate.
  • Assist with reporting automation, dashboard development, and continuous process improvement initiatives.
  • Support ad hoc analysis, special projects, and management reporting requests.Contribute to a high-performance, collaborative, and customer-focused team environment.
Skills
