Your role and responsibilities:

Reporting into the Senior Manager, Finance, this position requires a candidate with strong finance expertise and business acumen who can provide deep insights into financial results and the key drivers behind the numbers. You will work closely with cross-functional teams, including finance, operations, and senior management, to provide valuable insights and recommendations to enhance our financial performance. Applicants for this opportunity must possess strong interpersonal skills coupled with attention to detail and the initiative to work independently. We are looking for a talented and outgoing individual to join our team where you will have a chance to innovate, grow, build and maintain relationships at varying levels.

What You'll Do:

  • Build and execute the budgeting and forecasting process for a quantum computing company that is approaching an inflection point approaching commercialization.
  • Forecast preparation and submission including reviewing business submission and challenging assumptions to refine forecast accuracy
  • Provide commentary and analysis on monthly results vs. budget and forecast on monthly, quarterly and annual basis
  • Work cross-functionally to assist in various financial and reporting requirements while ensuring that best practices of corporate standards and policies are complied with
  • Provide support with financial models, business cases, deep dives analysis, reporting package improvements and other initiatives
  • Special projects collaborating with colleagues in hardware and software operations to provide required information to suggest solutions
  • Maintain data set integrity within our Financial systems to ensure that financial reports are accurate and categorized correctly.
  • Lead government milestone reporting, which includes the provision of evidence to support the pertinent project’s spend (e.g., SRED, SIF, FedDev, etc.).
  • Maintenance of records pertaining to government reporting in our ERP system, NetSuite.

Basic qualifications and experience:

  • Bachelor's degree in finance, accounting, or a related field.
  • Holding a professional designation (CPA, CFA).
  • 1-3 years of work experience with a background in public accounting or internal accounting department, with increasingly expanded and more technical responsibilities.
  • Versatile and able to jump into whatever needs to be done.
  • Demonstrated track record of executing consistently.
  • Continuously looking at improving systems, processes and policies to automate and streamline tasks.
  • Detail-oriented and able to perform in a high-pressure and fast-moving environment.
  • Excellent communication and project management skills.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office with advanced knowledge of Excel.

Preferred qualifications and experience:

  • Hands-on experience in a flexible, agile (i.e., start-up) environment.
  • Proficient in the use of NetSuite.
  • Knowledge of Python and/or SQL.
  • Knowledge of US GAAP.
