Summary


The Financial Analyst I provides transactional support within an accounting cycle, communicates with relevant parties regarding transactions, and supports analysis and reporting.


Key Duties & Responsibilities


  1. Accounting: Support transactional processes within an accounting cycle or client account, complete and resolve basic account reconciliations independently, identify issues or discrepancies in transactional accounting.
  2. Accounting Policy: Understand GAAP requirements relevant to the supported financial cycle or portfolio.
  3. Audit Support and Controls: Maintain accurate records for audits, gather support data, and understand internal control requirements.
  4. Financial Systems: Possess entry-level knowledge of accounting systems and MS Office, understand system interactions, and collaborate with IT and operational teams on setups.
  5. Planning/Forecasting: Extract data to support forecasts and analyze trends.
  6. Analysis: Respond to internal requests for simple ad hoc analysis with guidance.
  7. Reporting: Assist in preparing internal reports and contribute to business cases.
  8. Scope / Complexity: Manage high-volume or multiple low-volume portfolios with standard transactions.
  9. Interaction with Concerned Parties: Engage with parties at transactional levels to generate data supporting operational decisions.
  10. Financial Management/Contract Interpretation: Be aware of financial obligations and support delivery of contract/portfolio deliverables.
  11. Process Adherence / Implementation: Understand and ensure compliance with business processes, maintaining proper documentation.
  12. Problem Solving: Identify basic issues or discrepancies.
  13. Technical and Business Knowledge: Show curiosity about the industry, connect with operational counterparts, and support transactional processes.

Knowledge & Skills


  • College/University degree or professional certification (e.g., CPA, CMA, CGA, or equivalent).
  • 1-3 years of related experience.
  • Ability to prepare month-end journal entries.
  • Understanding of sub-ledger and general ledger interactions.
  • Knowledge of audit requirements.
  • Ability to identify issues or discrepancies in transactional accounting.
  • Effective communication of processes and procedures.
  • Ability to prepare basic memos and variance explanations.
  • Basic knowledge of accounting systems and MS Office.

Licenses and/or Professional Accreditation


Registered in an accounting designation program (CGA, CMA).
