Job description

The Opportunity:

The Granite Club is looking for a Financial Analyst on a fixed-term contract with a possibility to extend. You will conduct forward-looking financial and operational analyses to support the divisions you are assigned. This includes developing and implementing processes and controls, monitoring both operational and capital expenditures, budgeting, forecasting, financial reporting, financial analysis, month-end closing and reconciliations, and financial administration required to support the appropriate Committee. The Financial Analyst is to liaise with the Managers within their responsible departments as necessary to carry out their duties. The position reports to the Assistant Controller and will be located in Toronto, ON.

What You’ll Do:

  • Assist in the preparation of forecasts.
  • Prepare required department journal entries including inventory adjustments, accruals, and other adjustments, as applicable.
  • Complete variance analysis and monthly financial reporting packages to be sent to departmental managers and SMG.
  • Liaise with other departments on financials, operating processes, and take an active role in other ad hoc projects as required.
  • Improve the impact and understanding of financial reporting on business performance.
  • Build partnerships and maintain strong relationships with all senior managers and their teams within their responsible departments.
  • Work collaboratively and support the Assistant Controller for all departments, if necessary.
  • Document business processes and accounting policies to maintain and strengthen internal controls.

What You’ll Need:

  • University degree and CGA or CPA professional designation.
  • Strong MS Office (Word, Excel, PPT) knowledge and proficiency in general accounting knowledge.
  • Working experience in the hospitality industry is an asset.
  • Previous work with inventory counts required.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Excellent communication skills, verbal and written.
  • Strong organizational, planning, and information gathering skills.
  • Attention to detail and accuracy of reporting/analysis is critical.
  • Ability to prioritize and effectively execute tasks is crucial.
