Job summary

NAV CANADA is seeking a Financial Analyst for Financial Reporting Systems in Ottawa. Responsibilities

• Serve as SME for NAV CANADA financial systems and provide ERP system administration support.
• Maintain system documentation (process maps, SOPs, forms) and ensure data governance.
• Partner with finance stakeholders to design, implement, and improve system-enabled solutions.

Job Summary

By supporting system lifecycle activities, continuous improvement, and compliance requirements, the position enables the timely delivery of accurate financial information, strengthens internal controls, and supports informed decision-making aligned with strategic finance objectives.

Key Accountabilities

• Serve as a subject matter expert for the Company's financial systems
• Provide finance-related ERP system administration support, including maintenance of Foundation Data Model (FDM)
• Maintain system documentation (process maps, SOPs, Job Aids, forms, change requests) for areas within position responsibility
• Plan, organize and participate in the continuous design, development, implementation and / or life-cycle support of NAV CANADA for specific financial systems
• Provide functional support for specific financial systems with a strong understanding of the underlying financial business environment, processes and workflows
• Provide technical advice / guidance to clients in support of financial system maintenance and enhancement / changes and requirements gathering initiatives
• Partner with internal clients and finance stakeholders to evaluate business processes, develop and implement system‑enabled solutions, and recommend innovations aligned with Finance departmental, functional, and corporate objectives.
• Continuously assess and improve financial system processes, reporting, integrations, and data governance to optimize efficiency, strengthen internal controls, and ensure compliance with corporate policies and audit requirements.
• Develop, enhance and maintain sophisticated financial models in Excel that support forecasting, annual budget, long-range planning, and scenarios analysis
• Keep abreast of business analysis trends, evolving business processes, and technologies specific to financial systems within the position of responsibility
• Participate in system‑related initiatives by supporting enhancements, modifications, and application solutions, including planning, coordinating, and executing system testing to ensure system reliability and expected performance.

Job Requirements

Education

Professional accounting designation - CPA

Experience

Minimum of 5 years of experience in accounting.

Seasoned financial/technology professional with broad experience in accounting, financial application development, testing and delivery.

Experience in financial analysis and manipulating large volumes of data.

Knowledge

Knowledge of IFRS/Canadian GAAP and internal controls.

Proven experience using Workday, iPLAN, CDM and Power BI.

Knowledge of methodologies & tools for business analysis system testing.

Advanced knowledge of Microsoft Excel for financial analysis, modelling, data manipulation, and reporting.

Abilities

Ability to identify issues, investigate, test, determine root cause and recommend courses of action/process improvements.

Ability to recognize when issues require escalation and follow the appropriate escalation path.

Ability to be diplomatic, aware of sensitive information and the application of that information

Ability to innovate & be creative to achieve desired results

Ability to successfully manage multiple initiatives at the same time, adjust and re-prioritize as necessary
